Virtuoso acoustic guitarists Mark Cosgrove and Rolly Brown will be featured in their thirteenth annual "National Guitar Champs" autumn acoustic music event on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Buckingham Friends School in Lahaska PA. Both Bucks County performers have won the prestigious National Guitar Championships held annually in Winfield KS; Cosgrove in Flatpicking and Brown in the Fingerstyle division. Cosgrove and Brown will be joined by Joy Kills Sorrow, a young band from Boston featuring current Nat'l Flatpick Champ Matt Arcara. In addition, Cosgrove will be backed by his "Good Medicine Band", featuring vocalist/guitarist Peter Lorch, mandolinist Mike Madan, bassist Larry Cohen, and legendary fiddler Kenny Kosek.
All three guitarists will be featured in a Saturday afternoon workshop from 1 till 4 p.m., and lessons will be available by appointment with Grand Nat'l Fiddle Champion Tashina Clarridge and special guest Wes Corbett on banjo.

The Philadelphia Inquirer says, "Cosgrove and Brown's fingers turn still guitar strings into a whirlwind of melody...these musicians have mastered the art of playing acoustic guitar." Cosgrove, known for his hard-driving bluegrass playing, has toured internationally for many years, and has been featured in various national publications in recent years. Brown, a solo performer, sideman to various folk luminaries, and former host of WXPN's "Guitar Wizards", plays blues, jazz, swing, folk, bluegrass, and originals, and has become a prominent teacher and performer at guitar camps around the country.

This year's guest, “Joy Kills Sorrow”, is a young Boston based band featuring Matt Arcara, current National Guitar Flatpicking Champion.. Their style derives from years of playing traditional bluegrass and acoustic music combined with years of studying and teaching at Boston’s finest conservatories. Bluegrass, jazz, contemporary and classical music are all on the table, and trophies in various prestigious instrumental, vocal, and songwriting competitions are on their mantles.
Joy Kills Sorrow also includes vocalist Heather Masse, bassist and songwriter Bridget Kearney, and will feature special guests Tashina Clarridge on fiddle and Wes Corbett on banjo. Buckingham Friends School is located on Rt. 202 where it separates from Rt. 263, just west of Peddler's Village in Lahaska PA, about halfway between Doylestown and New Hope. Concert tickets are $25.
